David Carpenter passed away peacefully at home in Chandlers Ford on 29th December 2017, aged 56. David leaves behind his devoted and loving wife with whom he shared almost 40 years of his life with; 34 years of which were an incredibly happy marriage. His children, Suzanne and Nicholas have lost their loving father though his legacy remains as they have inherited his compassionate and caring ways, taking inspiration from his fantastic and quirky sense of humour and of course his love of board games.
It is always a tragedy when parents outlive their children, though Margaret and Graham were a pillar of strength for David. He remembered fondly a wonderful childhood, the care and love shown to him by his parents and Graham imparted wisdom and a strong work ethic within David which lasted his entire life. They also helped David to create a legacy of the family ancestry which he became particularly keen on exploring at the later stages of his illness.
Aside from those previously mentioned, David's biggest passions were; Diving (David was a lifeguard in his early career and went on to become a certified diver). Music: David played the guitar and had an eclectic taste in music spanning from the sublime to the peculiar. Photography: his favourite haunt being Southlake (Woodley) where his most loved personal photograph was taken. The most fortunate part of this hobby is that it has also left a lifetime of memories for his family through the fun and beauty he captured.
David counted himself lucky to have a job where he was able to travel. He visited Canada, Dubai and many other places around the world. However, this was also a passion away from work as Tracy and David took every opportunity to get some well earned rest at an exotic destination or a cruise. David said himself that one of the highlights of his life was being able to see the northern lights and ride a husky driven sled in 2015. Though this year he also highlighted that one of the proudest moments of his life was that he was able to walk his daughter down the aisle at Ben and Suzy's wedding.
The simple truth about David was that he was one of the most selfless, kind and loving individuals on the planet. He welcomed everyone he was friends with into his family and could never do enough to help others. He will be truly missed but also remembered incredibly fondly by all who knew him.
